Tea Time Is Self-Care: Making Time to Slow Down

September has a way of reminding us that it’s okay to slow down.

Summer is winding down, schedules are changing, and many of us are settling back into routines. Between work, family, responsibilities, and everything else life brings, it can be easy to put ourselves last.

But self-care doesn't always have to mean a spa day, a vacation, or hours of free time.

Sometimes, self-care can be as simple as a cup of tea.

Make Yourself a Cup—and Take a Moment

There is something special about preparing a cup of tea.

Choosing your favorite blend. Watching the water warm. Smelling the herbs as they steep. Holding that warm cup in your hands and taking those first few sips.

For just a few minutes, you have permission to pause.

Tea time can become a small daily reminder that you deserve a moment, too.

Create Your Own Tea Ritual

Your tea ritual doesn't have to be complicated. Try setting aside 10–15 minutes each day to intentionally enjoy your tea.

You might:

• Start your morning with a cup before the day gets busy.

•Enjoy a cup while reading a few pages of a book.

•Put on your favorite music and simply sit quietly.

•Use tea time to write in your journal or reflect on your day.

•Make an evening cup and allow yourself to disconnect from the day's responsibilities.

•Share tea time with someone you love.

The important part isn't what you do. It's giving yourself permission to be present.

Let Your Tea Match Your Moment

One of the beautiful things about herbal tea is the variety of flavors, aromas, and experiences different herbs can offer.

Chamomile can make a lovely choice for a quiet evening.

Spearmint and lemongrass bring bright, refreshing flavors that can be wonderful when you want something light and refreshing.

Ginger and citrus can create a flavorful combination when you're looking for something warm and invigorating.

And a beautiful hibiscus blend can add a vibrant color and refreshing flavor to your tea time.

There doesn't have to be a perfect tea for the moment. Choose the tea you enjoy and make the experience yours.

Self-Care Doesn't Have to Be Complicated

We often think self-care means adding one more thing to an already busy schedule.

What if instead, we looked at self-care differently?

What if it meant slowing down enough to enjoy something we are already doing?

Your cup of tea can become that reminder.

Instead of drinking your tea while answering emails, rushing out the door, or checking your phone, try putting everything down for a few minutes.

Take a breath.

Take a sip.

Be present.

You may be surprised how meaningful a few quiet minutes can feel.

A September Challenge: Take 10

This month, we invite you to try something simple:

Take 10 minutes for yourself each day.

Make your favorite tea. Find a comfortable spot. Put your phone aside. Take a few slow breaths and enjoy your cup.

No multitasking.

No rushing.

Just you and your tea.

And if you miss a day, don't worry. Simply start again the next day.

Because self-care isn't about perfection. It's about making room for yourself.

Your Cup Is Waiting

At Blessings by the Cupful, we believe tea is more than what's inside the cup. It's about the moments created around it—the conversations, the quiet mornings, the peaceful evenings, and those little pauses in the middle of a busy day.

So as we welcome September, remember to make time for yourself.

Pour yourself a cup. Slow down. Take a breath.

You deserve to enjoy the moment.

Blessings by the Cupful

The cup that always runs over.
